Earn while you learn with our Apprenticeships.
Our collaborative culture supports you as you build both professional and personal skills, with guidance from people across the firm who want you to succeed.
An apprenticeship gives you real insight into a career and helps you develop valuable, transferable skills — from commercial awareness to confidence and initiative.
As a member of the legal sector Trailblazer group, we helped shape national apprenticeship standards and were among the first firms to offer paralegal and solicitor apprenticeships.
With high‑quality training, competitive starting salaries and the chance to learn from experts, you can build a strong foundation for your future at Burges Salmon.
As of September 2024, we have a total of 28 apprentices
As part of the legal trailblazer group we helped design the new paralegal and solicitor apprenticeship standards

The introduction of the business professional apprenticeship
Our legal apprenticeship programme offers you the opportunity to qualify as a solicitor. Based in our Bristol office and in tandem with BPP University, you will complete the Level 7 Solicitor apprenticeship over a period of six years – the same time frame as completing a law degree, SQE and training contract. Each year, we take on four legal apprentices to start their journey to qualification as a solicitor.
With our programme, you will spend four days a week working at the firm and one day studying towards a formal legal qualification. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will work across our legal departments, gaining the invaluable breadth of experience you need to succeed as a qualified lawyer.
You will be earning from day one, with a salary increase each year:

Alongside our legal apprenticeships, we’ve also welcomed apprentices into our Finance, Marketing, Project Management and IT teams in our Bristol office. Our business apprenticeships typically last between two and four years and offer the chance to build real experience, with opportunities to continue working with us once your programme ends.
Unlike the legal route, the level and structure of our business apprenticeships vary by department, with some teams offering integrated degree apprenticeships. Sign up below to receive the latest updates on new business professional opportunities.
