We have successfully renewed our Disability Confident Leader status, maintaining the highest level of accreditation under the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme.
Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status is awarded to organisations that actively champion disability inclusion and are committed to promoting inclusive workplaces. Out of the roughly 19,000 UK employers registered in the scheme, less than 4% reach this top-level validation highlighting Burges Salmon as a leader in inclusive employment.
The firm’s renewal follows an externally verified assessment process, including validation of its self-assessment by an external organisation (WECIL), alongside submission of a narrative outlining the firm’s progress and ongoing commitments to promoting inclusion, as well as public reporting on disability, mental health and wellbeing. The submission recognised continued progress in embedding inclusive recruitment practices, enhancing workplace adjustments, and strengthening support for colleagues with disabilities and long-term health conditions.
As part of the broader Disability Confident scheme, Burges Salmon continues to challenge negative attitudes towards disability, remove barriers to recruitment and progression, and ensure disabled people have the opportunity to fulfil their potential, supported by appropriate reasonable adjustments.
The Disability Confident scheme, led by the UK Government, supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the workplace by encouraging inclusive recruitment and retention practices. This latest recognition reflects Burges Salmon’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive environment where all colleagues can thrive, as part of its wider responsible business and diversity and inclusion strategy.
