About

Ben is a trainee solicitor with experience working across the firm’s Corporate M&A, Banking, and Disputes teams.

He has also worked on secondment as part of EDF’s Nuclear New Build in-house legal team, where Ben provided legal support on high-value NEC and FIDIC suite construction contracts, as well as a variety of commercial licensing agreements.

Ben has experience advising on complex commercial disputes in the transportation and industrials sectors, with recent experience in the aviation industry. Ben also has experience spanning both debt and equity financing, having previously advised on private equity investments, mergers and acquisitions, group reorganisations, business disposals, and the financing of energy and real estate projects. Ben advises a diverse range of clients – including lenders, borrowers, sponsors and corporates on complex financing transactions across domestic and international markets.

Prior to joining Burges Salmon, he gained contentious experience assisting a King’s Counsel in Crown Court criminal proceedings. Beyond his legal training, Ben has been involved in community outreach, delivering adult social care, contributing to educational projects in both the UK and Rwanda, and helping to coordinate an internal fundraising event with the firm’s charity committee.

Experience

  • Disputes: Advising on complex commercial disputes, with a focus on the transport sector, with an interest in alternative disputes resolution.
  • Banking: Acted for both borrower and lender on various project finance and real estate finance matters, as well as insolvency and administration.
  • Construction and Commercial (in-house at EDF Nuclear New Builds): Advising on and drafting a variety of construction contracts and commercial licencing agreements for EDF’s Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station.
  • Corporate M&A: Advising on a range of healthcare, technology and renewable energy disposals and acquisitions.
