Imperial College London has recently published the findings of their research for the Committee on Climate Change on behaviour change, public engagement and net zero. The report seeks to explore how to engage people to make choices that can contribute to reducing emissions, and what this means for policy. The report sets out a range of policy interventions that could encourage changes across many sectors including transport, aviation and heating, as well as dietary change. The conclusions are thought provoking and a worthwhile read.
If the public are to become engaged with the climate challenge and contribute to achieving net-zero emissions then the wider policy context will also need to be more supportive. New, compelling narratives will be needed to inspire and mobilise mainstream participation in solutions, adoption of technologies and change in behaviours
