Employers who have been using the furlough scheme will welcome today's change which will allow employees to be 'flexibly furloughed'. This means that employees will be able to work for their employers part-time and be furloughed for the remainder of their usual hours of work - an option that many employers were keen to see introduced. Employers will still have the ability to keep employees fully furloughed and can also rotate people on and off furlough - today's change is simply an additional option.
Flexible furlough scheme starts today Businesses will have the flexibility to bring furloughed employees back to work part time from today (1 July) as part of the government’s plan to re-open the UK and kick-start our economy.
