We have advised Portugal-based Vangest Engineering Solutions, a leading European provider of integrated engineering and manufacturing solutions and portfolio company of private investment group Zeno Partners, on its acquisitions of UK-based businesses Micro Systems and Optimold.
With more than 20 years of experience in high-precision mould making and injection moulding for the healthcare and medtech sectors, Micro Systems and Optimold bring substantial expertise and advanced capabilities to the Vangest group.
The transactions mark a significant milestone in the Portuguese industrial landscape, with a domestic leader acquiring UK medtech specialists. The deal expands Vangest’s medical division and its ability to deliver complex, high-specification projects, applying enhanced innovation and operational agility.
The Burges Salmon team advising Vangest was led by partner Andrew Mills, senior associate Katie Carter and solicitors Manahil Qadir and Olivia Pryor from our Corporate and M&A team.
“By combining its in-house expertise with best-in-class international specialists, Vangest is asserting itself as the partner of choice for next-generation diagnostic devices, drug delivery systems, and other critical medical technologies. The deals highlight the continued attractiveness of the UK market for private equity-backed businesses and showcase our ability to provide cross-border legal services and support our clients’ global needs and ambitions.”
Andrew Mills, Partner
“We greatly appreciated the Burges Salmon team’s advice on this transaction — their hard work, perseverance and commercial approach was instrumental to the success of this deal.”
