Clean Energy Pipeline, a source of news, data and analytics for the renewables finance industry, has launched its Clean Energy Legal League Tables 2025 report, ranking the 20 most influential law firms in the global renewable energy market.
Clean Energy Pipeline’s ranking system is based on the work of the law firms as legal advisers on M&A and Project Finance transactions in the renewable energy sector in 2024, featuring the legal advisers that have played a central role in enabling renewable energy deployment.
Over the last 12 years, Burges Salmon has been the second most active law firm in clean energy M&A deals, according to Clean Energy Pipeline’s annual tables. In 2024, the firm featured in second place for M&A deals, with 59 transactions that amounted to over £1.15 billion in total value.
In terms of the Project Finance League Tables, Burges Salmon ranked 7th in the Top 20 Legal Advisors by Number of Deals table for 31 transactions, totalling over £1.80 billion.
For the first time this year, Clean Energy Pipeline has introduced a new Influence Factor (IF) methodology, which evaluates firms by the number and aggregate value of transactions advised on with the rankings reflecting each firm’s level of engagement in the global clean energy sector.
Burges Salmon has secured 5th place in the inaugural IF rankings.
“We’re incredibly proud to once again be recognised among the top-performing law firms in the global clean energy sector.”
“Securing second place for M&A deal volume and maintaining a strong position in Project Finance is a testament to the depth of our expertise and the trust our clients place in us.”
“What’s particularly exciting this year is our 5th place ranking in the new Influence Factor table – a powerful endorsement of the scale, value and impact of the transactions we’ve advised on. It’s a fantastic reflection of the team’s commitment to supporting the energy transition through complex, high-value deals across the UK and internationally.”
