Burges Salmon’s Impact on Climate recognised at leading pensions industry awards

We are thrilled to announce that Burges Salmon has been awarded the PMI Pinnacle Award for Impact on Climate, recognising our leadership in driving meaningful climate action – both within our own operations and across the pensions industry.

This achievement highlights the outstanding work of director Kate Granville Smith and our Pensions and Lifetime Savings team, whose innovative free ESG Tool is transforming climate-focused legal compliance. The tool makes ESG obligations simpler for trustees and employers, covering fiduciary duties, stewardship, investment decisions, and regulatory expectations. Supported by webinars, podcasts, and blogs, it has become a trusted resource in the pensions sector. Kate’s expertise has also been recognised globally, earning her a place as an ESG Distinguished Adviser in Financier Worldwide’s 2025 Power Players List.

The award also celebrates our own climate commitments. We are working towards a science-based target to cut emissions by 50% by 2030, led by Suzanne Padmore, Pensions Disputes partner and Chair of our Environment Working Group. Through strong leadership, transparent reporting, and active engagement via our BSustainable network, we empower our people with training, communications, and volunteering opportunities aligned with our environmental goals. We also strike pioneering collaborations for the good of our planet and earlier this year sealed a £1 million partnership with Oxygen Conservation, purchasing up to 8,000 UK-based premium quality carbon credits to deliver lasting ecological value.

“Our journey has shown that lasting change comes from both top-down leadership and bottom-up engagement. We know that clients value authenticity and by aligning our internal practices with the advice we give, we’ve strengthened relationships and cemented our position as a trusted ESG adviser. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this success – together, we’re making a real impact.”
