Burges Salmon is proud to announce that it has partnered again with conservation charity Trees for Life for another year, a collaboration that complements the firm’s climate commitments and sees it investing in a rewilding, carbon offsetting project focused on the Scottish Highlands.

Overseen and accredited by the UK Woodland Carbon Code, Trees for Life protects native trees at its acclaimed Dundreggan estate in Glenmoriston, planted as part of the restoration of the globally important Caledonian Forest, creating habitats for rare and endangered wildlife, while breathing new life into a largely treeless landscape.

As well as helping to re-wild Dundreggan, the trees will help store carbon as they grow through time. The trees will stabilise the soil and help prevent flooding further down the glens.

Burges Salmon’s collaboration with Trees for Life is part of its ambitions towards Net Zero and is amongst a series of progressive actions the firm is taking including the pursuit of year-on-year energy reductions and efficiency gains, the adoption of carbon-free energy sources and work on science-based targets already formally approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative.

Roger Bull, Burges Salmon’s Managing Partner, says: “We are delighted that we are able to partner again with Trees for Life – to contribute to the rewilding of the Scottish Highlands and to offset the carbon footprint associated with our energy use and business travel through nature. This partnership serves as an inspiring demonstration of what businesses and landowners can achieve for the environment through collaboration and supplements our own commitment to reduce our impact on the environment and to take action on the issue of climate change.”

Burges Salmon takes its environmental stewardship seriously. Respect for the environment is integral to the firm’s responsible business commitments and a key part of stakeholder expectations, with the firm’s people and its clients. The firm is a well-respected leader for legal advice in supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy, having an established Net Zero Services cross-sector team to assist its clients in driving decarbonisation in key sectors.
