Overview

Craig is a partner and leads the firm's Scottish planning team from our Edinburgh office. He specialises in the consenting of major infrastructure, residential and energy projects. Craig also advises scheme promoters and landowners on compulsory purchase and compensation, and has advised on some of the largest development schemes across Scotland.  

He regularly appears as advocate at planning appeal hearings and inquiries, as well as advising on judicial challenges. Craig has particular expertise in the delivery of development infrastructure and has advised Homes for Scotland and Scottish Futures Trust on developer contributions and land value capture.

Experience
  • Lead Partner advising a landowner developer on a 1,500 home, mixed use scheme in West Edinburgh, including appearing at appeal hearings.
  • Advising Clyde Gateway on CPO for a major regeneration scheme in Glasgow.
  • Advising on consenting of largescale (including section 36) onshore wind projects in Scotland.
  • Advising developers and funders on the Seagreen, Moray East, Beatrice and NNG offshore wind farm projects.
  • Advised North Somerset and Bristol City Councils on the South Bristol Link road scheme, including planning, EIA and compulsory purchase.
