Overview

Alice advises on all aspects of pensions law. Her experience covers numerous large projects including bulk transfers, benefit changes, corporate restructuring, liability management and buy-ins/outs.

She provides clear, straightforward advice to trustees and employers on day to day matters. Alice advises clients on duties under pensions and tax legislation and regulation, as well as drafting scheme documentation and supporting clients in scheme funding negotiations. She specialises in technical aspects of pensions law and tax.

Alice also advises SIPP and SSAS providers on a corporate activity, product development, documentation and compliance.

A regular speaker at firm seminars and workshops, Alice enjoys engaging with trustees when delivering trustee training, and has delivered presentations explaining pensions tax issues to senior client personnel.

Alice joined Burges Salmon as a trainee in 2005 and qualified into the pensions team in 2007. Alice is a full member of the Association of Pension Lawyers and an associate member of the Pensions Management Institute.

Experience
  • Working collaboratively with in-house team and other advisers on a major benefit redesign project including substantially redrafting four sections of the Scheme.
  • Advising high street retailer on the implications and process of its retail industry sponsoring employer’s CVA and scheme rescue.
  • Advising a major energy company on a series of DB and DC scheme mergers.
  • Working with a trustee client to implement a strategy across five group schemes in relation to the new pension freedoms, including drafting scheme amendments and reviewing member communications.
  • Advising on numerous bulk annuity projects.
