About

Alice is a partner in our Pensions team and a member of the firm’s strategic board.

She advises on all aspects of pensions law. Her experience includes leading teams on large projects including bulk transfers, benefit changes, corporate restructuring, liability management and buy-ins/outs. She provides clear, straightforward advice to trustees and employers, advising clients on duties under pensions legislation and regulation, as well as drafting scheme documentation and supporting clients on strategic projects.

Alice advises on defined benefit (DB), defined contribution (DC) and hybrid pension schemes including master trusts, with a particular interest in technical and complex matters. She also advises SIPP and SSAS providers on corporate activity, product development, documentation and compliance.

A regular speaker at training events, Alice enjoys engaging with clients when delivering training, and building relationships with clients and the whole advisory team.

She is a member of the Legislative & Parliamentary Committee of the Association of Pension Lawyers and chairs the Burges Salmon Charitable Trust.

Experience

  • Buy-in and buy-out: Advising on benefit specifications and contract terms for schemes ranging from £3 million to £2 billion.
  • University of Oxford Staff Pension Scheme: Advising the Trustee on master trust compliance, benefit restructuring, funding negotiations, and governance.
  • CF Fertilisers UK schemes: Advising three schemes on projects including strategic support on corporate restructuring, closure and transfer of defined contribution liabilities to a master trust, cyber security compliance and benefit reviews.
  • Employer advisory: Advising a major energy distributor on a range of DB and DC mergers, and on scheme documentation.
  • Embark: Advising Embark on various projects and products, including providing pensions legal advice on its acquisition by Lloyds Bank.
