Overview

Andrew is a partner in the firm’s Dispute Resolution team, helping clients arrive at the right solution to their issue, minimising impact and maximising success. He is supported by our extensive dispute resolution practice with a proven track record in the highest-profile cases and cross-border, multi-sector expertise.

Andrew specialises in the following:

  • High value and/or complex professional negligence claims, particularly against solicitors, surveyors/valuers, financial advisors and brokers, actuaries, auditors, accountants and engineers. Andrew has particular experience acting for both traditional and specialist lenders to recover distressed loans secured against residential and commercial property.
  • Company and shareholder disputes, including unfair prejudice petitions and derivative actions.
  • Contractual disputes across a wide variety of subject and sectors, including advice on termination and following the sale/acquisition of companies.
  • Obtaining urgent injunctive relief to protect a client’s commercial interests, including freezing orders and search orders.
  • Product liability, with a particular focus on recall and recovering losses.

Andrew has led successful proceedings up to the Court of Appeal and has experience of arbitration before the main international bodies, expert determination and mediation. He is authorised by the High Court to act as a Supervising Solicitor for parties wishing to execute Search Orders and he accepts instructions to adjudicate on professional negligence disputes.

Andrew is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers’ Association and the International Bar Association.

Experience
  • A claim for a specialist lender against a leading firm of chartered surveyors arising from its over-valuation of a portfolio of 90+ bank branches and ancillary accommodation as security for a £100 million commercial loan.
  • Acting for special receivers of a stockbroking company to pursue a negligence claim against its auditors for failing to undertake a competent Client Money & Assets (CASS) audit and thereby missing a significant shortfall in the client account.
  • Advising minority shareholders in a start-up technology company on an unfair prejudice petition against the majority/founder shareholder who was abusing his dominant position.
  • Advising an energy company on the termination of a large-scale electricity supply contract and the subsequent claim for significant liquidated damages.
  • Acting for a cosmetics company to manage and then disprove allegations by a European regulator concerning the presence of asbestos in some of its products.
