About

Ben trained at Burges Salmon and qualified into the Pensions and Lifetime Savings team in August 2025. During his time as a trainee, Ben held seats in Banking and Finance, Pensions and Lifetime Savings and Dispute Resolution, also seconding to the in-house legal team of a large national energy provider.

He is a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers and advises on a wide range of pensions matters, including: risk transfer projects, surplus and journey planning matters, insolvency and wind-up events and regulatory compliance.

Ben also has expertise in pensions cyber security and carries out industry training on the subject.

Experience

  • Trustee of the Honda Group – UK Pension Scheme: Advising in relation to a £800 million buy-in in the context of a large DB scheme, securing the benefits of over 1,700 retirees and over 3,000 deferred members.
  • Risk transfers: Advises on risk transfer projects, including preparing discretions tables and benefit specifications.
  • Regulatory compliance: Advises trustees and employers on regulatory compliance and the day-to-day running of a pension scheme.
  • Cyber security: Advises on the framework regarding cyber security and assisting trustees to meet their regulatory obligations.
  • GMP equalisation and benefit rectification: Advises regarding GMP equalisation projects and their scope, including analysis and subsequent rectification.
