Carol Aldridge Head of Knowledge Management & Information Services

Overview

Carol's role involves collaborating with knowledge leads in Burges Salmon’s legal departments and units and with business professional colleagues through a senior leadership team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading effective KM strategy to support the firm and its clients
  • Ensuring timely business information to support focused legal advice
  • Scoping effective value added support for clients
  • Co-ordinating cross-firm professional support/KM initiatives
  • Representation of the firm at pitches and best practice events

Working with KM/L&D Partners, Professional Support Lawyers and the Knowledge and Information Services team, Carol has led several firm-wide business improvement programmes. These have included introduction of tools and processes for KM in 2008, value added services in 2011 and UKAS-accredited certifications for ISO 9001, 27001 and 22301 in 2017.

Experience
  • Carol joined Burges Salmon in 2000, using her City legal experience as a professional support lawyer (PSL) before becoming Head of KM/IS in 2004. 
  • She presents regularly at industry KM events, often in collaboration with in-house colleagues, focusing on systems to support knowledge sharing and on the use of KM and VAS to support effective working relationships.
  • Carol also has experience of working with in-house teams keen to develop KM techniques and was recently appointed to BSI’s ISO KMS Committee.
