Chris is an associate in the Construction and Engineering team, specialising in construction disputes.
He has experience advising clients on a broad range of contentious construction matters including the provision of early strategic advice through to alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, adjudication and arbitration, and litigation including in the Technology and Construction Court.
Prior to joining Burges Salmon, Chris advised insurers and their insured counterparts on complex construction claims and policy disputes involving professional indemnity, contractors all risks, and public liability policies. This has given him valuable insight into project risks, claim strategy, and dispute resolution.
Experience
- PFI Project: Advising on disputes under a PFI contract, including the allocation of liability between multiple parties and adjudication proceedings.
- Engineer: Advising on claims arising from the alleged under-performance of ground source heat pump systems installed at a hotel.
- Multidisciplinary firm: Advising on disputes concerning architectural, MEP, and structural engineering services provided in connection with the refurbishment of a large commercial property in London.
- Insurer: Advising on insurance coverage issues and notifications across a residential property portfolio valued in excess of £50 million.
- Individual and Insurer: Advising on recovery claims against a range of professionals and contractors arising from alleged defective design and workmanship at a residential property valued in excess of £10 million.
