Ebony is an associate in the Commercial team and has a strong track record advising clients on a broad range of commercial, non-contentious intellectual property and data protection issues.

She is part of the firm’s specialist Sport sector team and has advised golf, skiing and government clients on a number of data protection, commercial contract and content creation issues in the sports space. She also regularly attends industry-related events, and is a proud member of Women In Football and LawInSport.

Ebony sits on the Recruitment and Progression committee of Burges Salmon’s BAME network, BCultured.

Experience

  • FATMAP: Advising skiing and mountaineering app FatMap, now part of Strava, in relation to the production of a content creation agreement with professional athletes, film production companies and other FATMAP ambassadors.
  • Professional golf tour organisation: Advising a professional golf tour on data protection issues relating to a government request for sensitive employee personal data.
  • Non-departmental government body: Providing data protection advice in relation to the procurement of research services into funded cultural programmes of major sporting events (Commonwealth Games 2022, Women’s Euro 2022 and Rugby League World Cup 2021).
  • Victoria’s Secret: Advising on various non-contentious IP, licensing and trade mark queries.
  • Property company of a local transport government body: Advising on IP and data protection issues relating to the creation and implementation of a new project to deliver electric vehicle charging services.
  • UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO): Providing ongoing commercial and IP advice, including drafting various licensing agreements relating to the licensing of UKHO’s IP rights in chart data to Crown departments and commercial entities.
