About

Emily is a Restructuring and Insolvency partner in our Banking and Finance team. She specialises in non-contentious corporate restructuring and insolvency matters in the private and public sectors. Emily acts for key stakeholders including investors, companies, management teams, insolvency practitioners, regulators and pension trustees on both domestic and cross-border distressed situations.

She supports clients across the full spectrum of financial stress and distress including: risk management and mitigation for boards; options analysis for investors; contingency planning for counterparties, and solvent and insolvent solutions for corporates.

Emily is a member of TMA UK’s Network of Women committee. She is recognised as a Next Generation Partner in Legal 500, a Band 2 Lawyer in Chambers and Partners, and a Notable Practitioner in IFLR 1000.

Experience

  • Student accommodation portfolio: Advising a debt fund on its enforcement options and supporting with consensual solutions bespoke to each asset across four jurisdictions.
  • Biomass plant: Advising the lenders of a £22 million project finance facility on the restructuring of a biomass plant involving an administration and subsequent credit bid of the borrower.
  • Montezuma’s Chocolates: Advising administrators from Grant Thornton on the sale of Montezuma’s Chocolates by way of a pre-pack administration.
  • Côte Restaurants: Advising administrators from FTI Consulting on the administration and sale of Côte Restaurants to a buyer backed by Partners Group.
  • Bakers + Baristas: Advising on its successful company voluntary arrangement (CVA).
  • Financial Services Compensation Scheme Limited: Advising the representative of the ‘Exiting Creditors’ in the 2018 High Court and Court of Appeal cases relating to the MF Global UK CVA.
