About

Emily attended the University of Exeter from 2020 to 2023, studying an undergraduate degree in Law. In her final year, this included studying an optional module in Advanced German. She completed a vacation scheme with Burges Salmon in June 2022 and accepted a training contract shortly after.
From 2023-2024, Emily earned her Masters with Distinction in Legal Practice from the University of Law. This encapsulated both components of the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE).

Emily joined the firm in September 2024 and is now a second-year trainee. To date, Emily has undertaken seats in Dispute Resolution, Pensions & Lifetime Savings, Real Estate and Competition. She has a particular interest in environmental projects.

Experience

  • Complex claims: Reviewing complex claim statements in relation to multi-jurisdictional investigations of corruption and civil recovery.
  • Pensions arrangements: Advising on a broad range of pensions arrangements, covering both DB and DC matters.
  • Thought leadership: Drafting pieces on key developments in the sustainability space, including ESG litigation and ESG considerations in defined contribution pension schemes.
  • Natural capital: Assisting in the preliminary stages of multiple pilot natural capital projects, each focussed on restoring nature at scale.
