About
Harry joined Burges Salmon in September 2023, and is a fourth year apprentice solicitor set to qualify via the SQE in September 2029. He has joined the firms Projects department for his final year long seat as part of the apprenticeship scheme. He is set to join the trainee rotation from September 2027. Prior to starting in the Projects team, Harry has spent time in the firms Real Estate, Planning & Compulsory Purchase and Dispute Resolution departments. In this period, he has been involved in several high value, complex transactions spanning across the firms Built Environment and Dispute Resolution sectors.
In addition to this, Harry is also Co-Chair of the Engagement Teams for two of our employee networks, BCultured and BEnabled. These groups focus on promoting and enhancing ethnic diversity, disability inclusion and social mobility within the legal sector and Harry’s role as Co-Chair is to champion, enable and help coordinate this work. Harry also collaborates closely with key stakeholders such as the Social Mobility Business Partnership, Social Mobility Foundation and City Century where he regularly attends external events and conferences promoting social mobility, and Burges Salmon’s outreach programmes.
Experience
- Aviation disputes: Assisting with the advising of a European airline on regulatory and commercial matters, including the EU and UK Regulation 261/2004, the Montreal Convention 1999, and general contractual disputes.
- Rail incident response: Assisting with the incident response of a train operating company following a serious rail incident.
- St Modwen: Assisting with multiple large scale mixed-use development transactions, including its key partnership with Homes England.
- Tritax Big Box REIT: Assisting on several property, logistics, and asset management transactions across the UK spanning both the Real Estate and Planning & Compulsory Purchase teams.
- Defence infrastructure organisation: Supporting with multiple transactions as part of the Major Projects Disposals Programme and coordinating any client onboarding requirements.
- Environment and Infrastructure: Advising and assisting on environmental and infrastructure matters, including drafting agreements for the sale of nitrate credits to support nutrient neutrality requirements, and supporting the Environment Agency on the Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme Compulsory Purchase Order 2023, which will deliver over 5 kilometres of flood alleviation measures in Oxford.
