Overview

Helen is a Senior Associate in the Private Client team, specialising in providing tax and structuring advice to clients with international connections. Her clients include individuals, financial institutions and trust companies and she advises on a range of issues including:

  • personal taxation, particularly for UK resident non-domiciled individuals;
  • UK taxation of non-UK resident trusts and companies;
  • pre-arrival tax planning for those moving to the UK;
  • multi-jurisdictional Wills and succession planning; and
  • disclosures to HMRC in order to regularise the tax affairs of trustees and individuals.

Helen works for clients worldwide, with a particular focus on those from Europe and South Africa, as well as institutional clients in the Channel Islands.

She is a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) and the winner of a STEP Excellence Award.

Experience
  • Advising individuals on their domicile position and the statutory residence test.
  • Advising on the UK tax implications of an individual’s residence and domicile.
  • Advising individuals and trustees on the establishment, administration and taxation of UK and non-UK resident trusts.
  • Advising on cross-border estate planning, including opportunities to make use of relevant IHT treaties and the application of the European Succession Regulation (Brussels IV).
