Overview

Helen has over 20 years' experience in transactional intellectual property and commercial contracts. Having trained at Burges Salmon, qualifying in 1995, She was head of intellectual property for a number of years, becoming head of commercial in 2013 and now heads the firm's Food and Drink team. She has also spent 4 years sitting on the firm's six partner strong board, PCom.

Helen has worked on a range of non-contentious intellectual property and commercial transactions, particularly in the food and drink, retail, sport and financial services sectors.

Experience
  • Advising RAC on a number of technology development transactions building its Telematics offering, as well as advising on its appointment of BGL Group to provide RAC-branded car insurance in a five year deal with a value of £800 million Gross Written Premiums.
  • Advising John Lewis Partnership and Waitrose on their contractual arrangements.
  • Advising FirstGroup on the arrangements with TfL for the introduction of contactless payment for all tickets across London rail services, integrating with the London Underground.
  • Working with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to restructure nuclear industry IP (and complex industry-wide licence arrangements) in preparation for the winding-up of BNFL, the original state holder of the industry IP.
  • Advising independent UK racecourses on 20 years' of media rights deals.
