Holly is a professional support lawyer within the Construction & Engineering team.

With over 14 years’ experience as a construction lawyer, she is responsible for knowledge management in the Construction & Engineering team, including designing and delivering a comprehensive training programme, creating standard form documents and processes in order to maximise efficiencies and excellence, producing legal know how and precedents, and implementing technology to assist in service delivery.

Before moving to the professional support lawyer role, Holly practised construction law for c.10 years, latterly focusing her practice on construction disputes. Her practice included troubleshooting live projects, as well as the resolution of disputes via formal proceedings, such as adjudication, the Technology and Construction Court or alternative means. Alongside advising on numerous adjudications, Holly has acted on several reported cases in the Technology and Construction Court.

Experience

  • Major engineering solutions provider: Representing on a successful adjudication concerning extensive defects in highways and infrastructure works carried out by its subcontractor.
  • Process plant owner: Advising on a complex professional negligence claim against its process engineers regarding defective pipework design.
  • Local authority: Advising on a complex Highways PFI adjudication, regarding the extent of the service provider’s contractual obligations in relation to road maintenance and refurbishment.
  • Train operating company: Advising on various contentious and non-contentious matters, including pursuing and defending adjudications, as well as providing troubleshooting support, training and project management tools as value added services.
  • Operator of an MBT facility: Advising on defending a claim for damages relating to a shortage in the RDF supply to an adjoining waste to energy facility.
