About

India is a solicitor in the firm’s Family Law and Divorce team. She joined Burges Salmon in 2016 as a legal apprentice and was one of the first at the firm to qualify via this route.

She has experience in all areas of family law, including divorce, financial settlements, marital and cohabitation agreements, including cases involving complex assets, corporate issues and international elements. She also has experience in child arrangement cases, including those within court proceedings.

India is a member of YRes and Resolution and sits on the committee of the Bristol Junior Lawyers Division. She also co-chairs the events task group of the firm’s internal gender balance network, BBalanced.

Experience

  • High-net-worth individuals: Acting for high-net-worth individuals on all aspects of relationship breakdown, including those with complex business assets, and where assets are pre-acquired or inherited by one party.
  • Settlement strategies: Acting for clients in financial remedy court proceedings and outside of the court process, including at private FDRs. Assisting and advising on practical solutions and settlement strategies.
  • Cohabitation agreements: Preparing and advising clients on cohabitation agreements, including to protect inheritance, family trust assets as well as pre-acquired wealth and property.
  • Children arrangements: Acting for clients in respect of arrangements for their children, both in and outside of court proceedings, including where there are international issues.
  • Non-molestation and occupation orders: Advising clients in respect of non-molestation and occupation orders, including options to contest or vary terms.
