Leonardo is a pensions consultant in the pensions team. He has a broad range of pensions expertise and can advise about all areas of pensions law, covering the personal pensions, occupational pensions sectors and group life schemes.

He specialises in advising SIPP providers on all non-contentious pensions law issues. His clients include both platforms and full service SIPPs and he understands the product objectives of this sector of the market place. He particularly enjoys helping clients with the legal aspects of new product literature and rule structures.

Leonardo also advises both defined benefit and defined contribution occupational schemes (including SSASs) in the following areas:

  • document drafting including trust deeds and rules and amending deeds
  • scheme restructuring including the closure of defined benefit schemes to accrual
  • the effect of legislation on scheme design.

He is a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers. He is also the firm’s representative in the Association of Member-Directed Pension Schemes.

  • Advising on occupational DB scheme restructuring including the closure of defined benefit schemes to accrual.
  • Advising on the equalisation of retirement ages.
  • Reviewing platform discretionary fund manager agreements for legal risks and to ensure compatibility with current pensions law.
  • Providing specialist assistance to our corporate team with acquisitions and mergers of SIPP providers.
