About

Mamunul is a senior associate in the firm’s Pensions and Lifetime Savings team, having joined in April 2025.

Prior to joining Burges Salmon, Mamunul specialised in contentious matters covering a wide range of financial products with particular expertise in disputes relating to pensions.

Mamunul is now working with schemes, advisers and administrators on a wide-range of pensions matters. Drawing on his disputes experience, he is well placed to advise clients on the steps they might take to avoid issues and uncertainties arising in the first place.

In recognition of his outstanding client care and performance towards a high-profile instruction at a previous firm, Mamunul was awarded Junior Lawyer of the Year at the 2023 Bristol Law Society awards.

Experience

  • A leading role in securing redress for steelworkers who were advised to transfer out of the British Steel Pension Scheme. Mamunul also contributed to the National Audit Office and Public Accounts Committee investigations into transfer regulation.
  • Advising on member queries, IDRP complaints and Pension Ombudsman referrals arising from matters as ill health retirement, transfers, provision of allegedly incorrect information and failures to prevent transfers to pension liberation schemes
  • Advising on regulatory issues within the remit of the Financial Conduct Authority.
  • A nine-month secondment focusing primarily on tax and trusts at St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc
