About

Mark is a highly experienced partner in the firm’s Corporate and M&A team and former Head of our Private Equity team. He has over 25 years’ experience acting for multi-national organisations and institutions, entrepreneurial businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

As a member of our Private Equity team, Mark has significant expertise advising institutions, management teams and investee companies on all types of private equity transactions, including buy-outs, strategic investments, development capital transactions, re-financings and exits.

He works on transactions across several sectors, with a particular focus on financial services, healthcare and infrastructure.

Experience

  • Embark: Advising leading digital wealth management platform provider Embark on a series of acquisitions, institutional investment rounds and its £390 million exit to Lloyds Bank.
  • Loungers: Advising the founders of Lounge and café bar chain Loungers on a number of investment rounds, including on the £338 million recommended public-to-private acquisition of Loungers by an acquisition vehicle backed by Fortress Investment Group.
  • Openwork: Advising Openwork Partnership LLP, majority shareholder in The Openwork Partnership (Openwork), one of the UK’s largest financial advice networks, on a strategic investment into Openwork from global private investment firm, Bain Capital.
  • Octopus: Advising Fern Fibre and Octopus Investments on the acquisitions of fibre to the premises providers Jurassic Fibre and Swish Fibre, along with long-term funding agreements of up to £475 million, and subsequent reorganisation to create Fern Fibre.
  • ITM Power PLC: Advising ITM, the energy storage and clean fuel company, on a £60 million strategic partnership with Vitol Holdings SARL for wholly owned subsidiary ITM Motive.
