Rebecca is a senior associate and solicitor advocate in the Dispute Resolution team.
She joined the team in 2024, having worked for over a decade as a dispute resolution lawyer at a top 10 global law firm. She has significant experience in finance, banking and insolvency disputes, and has a ‘blue chip’ client base that has included two of the ‘big four’ clearing banks, private banks, a leading global investment bank and wealth management firm, and three of the ‘big four’ accounting firms. Clients usually turn to Rebecca for her insightful and considered approach in high-value and technically challenging disputes, which often have serious reputational importance.
Rebecca has commercial in-house experience, having spent six months working in the Lloyds Banking Group’s Commercial Banking Litigation team. The experience deepened her understanding of the challenges faced by in-house legal teams and how she can provide support.
Experience
- Major clearing bank: Acting on a raft of civil claims brought by commercial customers arising from a fraudulent authorised push payments scam where a gang of fraudsters stole £113 million from UK based customers.
- Well-know bank: Successfully defended a number of debanking matters where customers had taken injunctive action against their bank after it terminated their banking services.
- Insolvency Practitioners: Provided strategic advice on the waiver of privilege, wrongful trading, misfeasance and antecedent transactions in a £120 million cross-jurisdictional dispute.
- Retail bank: Advising in relation to claims brought by the Official Receiver on behalf of approximately 5,000 bank customers (in bankruptcy).
