About

Ryan Joined Burges Salmon as a paralegal apprentice in September 2023. During the first two years of the apprenticeship he has participated in a public inquiry and has assisted in advising Pension Schemes with assets worth between 50 million to 1 billion pounds through complex process’s such as winding up, during two year long seats with the firm’s Dispute Resolution team and Pensions team respectively.

Following the completion of his paralegal apprenticeship in summer 2025, Ryan joined the Projects team in September 2025 for a year-long seat as a solicitor apprentice on the Level 7 programme.

He is set to qualify via the SQE in September 2029 with BPP university.

Experience

  • Public inquiry work: Assisting with inquiries ran by the firm.
  • IDRP response work: Assisting with responding to Pension Scheme member complaints made under the IDRP.
  • Assisting in scheme winding-up: This involved assisting in providing legal advice to pension scheme administrators and trustees, as well as drafting legal documents such as Section 27 notices.
  • Draft admission agreements: Drafting admission agreements to admit companies into the LGPS following outsourcing.
