About

Teuta Jahdaut-Nerjovaj is an Associate in the firm’s Pensions & Lifetime Savings team. She is experienced in advising trustee boards, employers, pension providers and lenders on all aspects of pensions law.

She joined Burges Salmon from an international law firm with a market-leading pensions practice, where she completed her traineeship and gained over five years’ experience in its pensions team.

Teuta advises on both defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) matters, including scheme documentation, benefit specification reviews, GMP equalisation and complex member-related issues. She also works closely with the internal corporate and employment teams to deliver coordinated, commercially focused pensions advice.

Teuta is a full member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.

Experience

  • Master trust transactions: Advising trustees of multiple DB schemes on the bulk transfer of DC sections of hybrid schemes to master trust arrangements, with a total value of over £500m.
  • University of Aberdeen Pension Scheme: Ongoing advice to the trustees on a broad range of matters, including complex death benefits, pension sharing on divorce and scheme documentation.
  • William Grant: Advising the employer on the reconfiguration of a £200m asset-backed DB pension scheme contingent funding asset as part of an internal reorganisation.
  • Suncor Energy: Advising the employer on the £710m sale of UK oil and gas operations, including detailed pensions advice on benefit structures and associated risks.
  • TotalEnergies: Advising the employer on the sale of UK gas assets, including DB pension exposure, contractual top-up arrangements, TUPE implications and regulatory compliance.
  • De-risking transactions: Advising trustees on the buy-in, buy-out and wind-up of DB schemes ranging from £25m to £200m.
