Tom is a senior associate in the firm’s Construction & Engineering team, specialising in resolving disputes for clients across the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors.

He helps clients navigate complex issues such as defects, delays, and other contractual disputes including final account and claims for liquidated damages, ensuring projects stay on track. Tom works closely with clients to evaluate claims, prevent escalation and deliver pragmatic, commercially focused advice.

Tom has extensive experience under the Pre-Action Protocol for Construction & Engineering Disputes and in complex High Court litigation, adjudications (including enforcement), mediations, arbitrations and commercial negotiations.

He advises on a wide range of construction and engineering contracts including the full suite of JCT and NEC contracts.

Experience

  • Acted for a multi-national Tier 1 contractor in adjudication proceedings, successfully defending a substantial payment claim and providing strategic ongoing support to the client at project level.
  • Acted for a large public authority in a complex multi-party £multi-million dispute concerning delay, defects and final account issues on major infrastructure works under a £500m+ NEC Term Service Contract.
  • Provided building safety and contractual advice to a client on a major rail infrastructure scheme.
  • Successfully defended high-value adjudication proceedings for a contractor client in relation to potentially defective £multi-million refurbishment works.
