On the 19 May 2026 the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published the latest Regulatory Initiatives Grid (Grid) from the Financial Services Regulatory Initiatives Forum (the Forum).

The Forum is comprised of nine bodies (The Bank of England (BoE), the Competition and Markets Authority, the FCA, the Financial Reporting Council, His Majesty’s Treasury, the Information Commissioner’s Office, the Prudential Regulation Authority, the Payment Systems Regulator and the Pensions Regulator) who work together to prepare and publish the Grid twice a year. The Grid sets out the planned regulatory initiatives for the following 24 months and provides the financial services industry and other stakeholders with a form of calendar so that they can anticipate and plan for these changes, which may have significant operational impacts on them.

The Grid is organised into sections, one of which is a “multi-sector” section covering initiatives across more than one sector. There are also sector specific sections covering banking, credit and lending; payments and cryptoassets; insurance and reinsurance; investment management; pensions and retirement income; retail investments; and wholesale financial markets.

There are 135 initiatives in this version of the Grid, with the two largest sections being “multi-sector” and “banking, credit and lending”. Further, a number (33%) of these initiatives are joint initiatives between members of the Forum as they look to align workstreams and reduce duplication.

In particular, the Grid sets out seven new multi-sector initiatives.

  1. The ICO’s updates to the guidance on sharing personal information when preventing, detecting and investigating scams and frauds
  2. The ICO’s guidance to the right to Rectification Updates
  3. The BoE’s exercise on the private markets system-wide exploratory scenario (SWES)
  4. The FCA’s suggestions for streamlining sustainability reporting for asset managers and FCA-regulated asset owners
  5. The FCA’s review of the Investment Firm Prudential Regime (IFPR)
  6. The FCA’s Decision Procedure and Penalties Manual (DEPP) consultation
  7. The FCA’s Financial Crime Guide Updates

For further information about the Grid or any of the initiatives set out in this latest edition, please contact AJ Venter or Kerry Berchem.

This Grid contains initiatives designed to strengthen the foundations for growth by ensuring financial stability, as well as initiatives that may have the direct benefit of increasing competition, facilitating innovation, boosting consumer confidence and trust, and supporting investment.
