About

Kerry joined Burges Salmon in 2023 and is the Practice Development lawyer for the firm’s Financial Services team.

Her role is varied and overlaps technical financial services regulatory expertise, client support, business development and strategy. Kerry keeps our clients and our financial services lawyers up to date with key market trends and regulatory changes in this rapidly evolving and heavily regulated area. She leads on content production for our financial services blogs, client newsletters, and other external content such as webinars, podcasts and industry publications.

Kerry works alongside our lawyers with the production of external conference content and is closely involved with both our internal and our client training offerings. As an experienced financial services lawyer with private practice and in-house experience, gained both from within the industry and from working in-house at a regulator, she is a key part of our value added service offering to our financial services clients.

Experience

  • In-house advice: (financial services industry regulator) on a wide range of supervisory matters including authorisations queries, regulatory perimeter issues, licensee restructurings and information exchanges with other regulators.
  • In-house advice: (financial services industry regulator) in relation to financial crime investigations and a jurisdictional FATF assessment.
  • In-house advice: (financial services industry regulator) on a number of enforcement cases from investigation to final hearing.
  • In-house advice: (wealth management sector) on day to day regulatory compliance, client onboarding processes, financial crime obligations, client risk reviews, and governance.
  • In-house advice: (wealth management sector) on the implementation and completion of regulator imposed risk mitigation programmes.
  • Private practice experience: in banking and regulatory disputes, and in professional negligence disputes.
