The launch of City Pop’s first UK property in London underlines the growing demand for flexible, digitally enabled accommodation in the capital, as international operators continue to target well-connected urban locations with strong appeal to students, professionals and corporate occupiers.
The Real Estate team from independent UK law firm Burges Salmon has advised European flexible living operator City Pop on its entry into the UK market, with the launch of its first London property in Fitzrovia.
Located at 21 Tottenham Street, moments from Tottenham Court Road station, the property will comprise 34 fully furnished serviced apartments, including 32 two-bedroom apartments and two penthouse apartments with wraparound balconies.
The launch marks a significant milestone in City Pop’s international growth strategy, bringing its portfolio to more than 3,000 units across 25 buildings in Europe. Having already established a presence in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic and France, the London opening represents City Pop’s sixth European market and the start of its planned expansion in the UK.
City Pop’s model offers fully furnished, digitally enabled accommodation designed to provide residents with a flexible, convenient and hassle-free living experience in major urban centres.
Burges Salmon advised City Pop on the legal aspects of the transaction. The firm’s Real Estate team was led by partner Will Hall and associate Ione Edmundson.
“Launching City Pop London is an important milestone for our business and a significant step in our wider international growth strategy. London is one of Europe’s most dynamic and competitive real estate markets, and Fitzrovia is an ideal location for our first UK property, with strong demand from people looking for flexible, high-quality accommodation in the heart of the city. We are very pleased to have worked with Burges Salmon on this transaction. Will and Ione provided clear, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice throughout, helping us bring this important project to life.”
Pawel Gawor, CEO, City Pop
“City Pop’s launch in London is a strong signal of confidence in the UK living sector and in the continued appeal of centrally located, flexible accommodation. The demand drivers in Fitzrovia are clear, with its proximity to universities, major employers, transport links and the wider West End, and City Pop’s model is well placed to respond to the way people increasingly want to live, work and move between major cities. “We are delighted to have supported City Pop on its UK market debut. This is an exciting first step for the business in the UK and reflects the continued internationalisation of the flexible living market.”
