As outlined in previous posts (see here), from 6 April 2024 the building control industry in England will become a regulated profession and public and private building inspectors and building control approvers will need to be registered with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) in order to continue to practice.
The requirement for building control professionals to register with the BSR has now been extended to building inspectors and building control approvers who wish to operate in Wales and the BSR register for building control professionals in Wales opened on 31 January 2024.
Application for registration as a building inspector and/or building control approver can be made via the BSR website:
There will be no additional charge for registering in Wales as well as in England.
