Nikola Motors, head-quartered in Phoenix, Arizona, has recently released claims of a major breakthrough in battery cell technology.
CEO, Trevor Milton, suggests the breakthrough is "the biggest advancement we have seen in the battery world".
The new technology is supposedly cheaper, more eco-friendly, and would enable an electric vehicle to travel twice as far as current batteries allow.
It is yet to be seen whether such claims can be substantiated. The batteries are due to be publicly tested at Nikola's technology summit in late 2020. Experts are yet to be convinced and have so far received very little detail of the new technology.
If the battery is as transformative as its stakeholders suggest then it could prove to be a revolutionary advancement for the EV market.
Nikola Motors says that the new cells used in their batteries could increase range for present electric passenger vehicles from 300 miles per charge to as much as 600 miles
