The FCA has published a list of business interruption (BI) insurance policies capable of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic following the BI insurance test case (Test Case).
Following an information request to insurers in January 2021, the list records each firm’s view of the application of the test case to the relevant policy. The policies listed cover over 200,000 policyholders and may be subject to further update.
Inclusion in the list does not mean that the outcome of any particular claim will be affected. Each policy’s wording and each policyholder’s circumstances will need to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Where a policy is not included on this list, this may be for a number of reasons, such as the policy wording being of a type not considered in the Test Case.
