The UK Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT), launched by HM Treasury in April 2022, has published a call for evidence, closing on 13 July 2022, on its proposed Sector-Neutral Framework (the Framework) for private sector transition plans.
Whilst the surge in firms making public commitments to decarbonise their activities and publishing net zero transition plans is a positive development, there are marked variabilities in the quality and robustness of these plans. By establishing the Framework, the TPT aims to develop a gold standard for actionable transition plans by providing guidance on the definition of a transition plan, guiding principles for preparing transition plans, and the key elements to be covered in a plan.
The TPT's call for evidence will not only feed into the Framework but also the TPT's general direction of travel. For further information and to provide written feedback to the TPT, see here. For details of how Burges Salmon can assist with sustainable finance matters, please click here.
