We have advised cybersecurity startup Approov Limited, an award-winning mobile app security software business, on its Series A funding round. The £5 million investment came from a consortium of investors including the Investment Fund for Scotland, managed by Maven Capital Partners, with participation from Souter Investments and existing investors Lanza techVentures and Scottish Enterprise.

Approov has developed patented mobile security technology that protects apps and APIs from AI-driven threats and verifies device integrity with real‑time analytics and cloud‑based secret management. The multi-million-pound funding milestone will enable Approov to bolster its R&D team in Edinburgh, enhance the development of its advanced technologies and allow it to invest in its sales and marketing operations as it grows its market reach, diversifies into new sectors and expands its international footprint.

Burges Salmon’s cross-disciplinary Emerging Companies practice acted for Approov on the transaction, led by senior associate Niall Mackle, partner Danny Lee and solicitor Manahil Qadir from our Corporate and M&A team.

This latest funding round is testament to the high investor confidence in the vision and long-term success of Approov, and we are proud to work with a pioneering business that is charting its path from early innovator to industry leader. It has been a pleasure supporting Ted and his team as Approov transitions from an early-stage venture to a mature business.

This funding marks a pivotal moment in our mission to ensure that every mobile app instance is authenticated and that backend APIs are protected from fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.

“Working with Burges Salmon provided a strategic advantage as their team combines top-tier professionalism with a deep, practical knowledge of the UK venture community.
