We are pleased to announce the appointments of partner Dixcee Fast and director Janice Napier in our Real Estate Energy team.

Dixcee brings to the firm years of experience as a leading real estate energy lawyer advising developers and landowners on clean energy projects including wind, solar, wave, tidal, cable projects and associated pipeline. With in-depth experience of the renewables sector, coupled with her expertise in commercial real estate, Dixcee will support the firm’s two largest sectors – Energy & Utilities and Built Environment – working with clients in Scotland, UK-wide and internationally to provide support on each stage of their developments’ lifecycle. With a passion for nurturing and empowering young talent, Dixcee will play an important role in growing the next generation of lawyers within the firm.

Janice is a commercial property lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in the Energy and Built Environment sectors. Dual-qualified in Scotland and England & Wales, Janice works on all aspects of property law for renewable energy projects, acting across the UK for developers of wind, solar and energy storage schemes. Janice also has a broad commercial property practice, advising on leasing, sales and purchases, development work and lease portfolio management.

Joining from Anderson Strathern, Dixcee and Janice will be based in the firm’s Edinburgh office and are joined by solicitor Caitlin Preston.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dixcee, Janice and Caitlin to our Edinburgh office and into our well-established real estate team. Their extensive experience complements our Energy and Utilities sector group perfectly and their superb understanding of the full spectrum of renewables will support many of our clients as we guide them through the complexities of the energy transition and drive to net zero, in what is one of the most active and pioneering sectors in Scotland. Their arrival reinforces our leading position as the legal experts in clean energy, sustainability and decarbonisation. Furthermore, their track record in commercial real estate also supports our well-established client portfolio in the Built Environment sector, bringing a wealth of experience to the team at a time of huge opportunity in this sector in Scotland.

Burges Salmon has grown exponentially since its Edinburgh launch in 2019, in that time expanding both its headcount, from a founding team of just seven to now a 100+-strong office, and its Atria One premises on Morrison Street. The firm has established itself as a law firm of choice in the Scottish market and is regularly engaged in some of the most nationally significant projects in the region including the construction, in Scotland, of Europe’s largest battery energy storage projects, Glasgow airport’s solar transformation and the UK’s largest natural capital acquisition to date in Cairngorms National Park.
