We have won Community Impact Award of the Year at the Bristol Law Society Awards, an accolade recognising excellence across the region’s legal profession. Covering activity between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, the award celebrates the firm’s focused commitment to practical, place-based community support.

The centrepiece of the award entry is the Pony Farm Bus. In collaboration with Young Bristol, this mobile initiative delivered food education, practical skills, and direct support to young people and families in community settings. To help mobilise the project, Burges Salmon hosted a Pony Bus Charity Dinner at its Bristol office in partnership with BaxterStorey and Josh Eggleton MBE, raising £8,500 to secure long-term local impact.

Alongside this lead project, the firm’s wider partnerships with Voscur and Avon Needs Trees are key features of the award recognition, and align directly with ‘Funding Fairer Futures’, the firmwide charitable theme focused on turning our commitment to fairer opportunities into practical action. For Voscur, Bristol’s support agency for the voluntary and social enterprise sector, a pilot partnership has seen our firm expertise strengthen local charity resilience. Separately, the firm’s climate resilience partnership with Avon Needs Trees saw 72 volunteers contribute 521 hours in 2025/26 alone, helping to plant 1,740 trees to create permanent, biodiverse woodland across the West of England.

“We are grateful for this award, and the opportunity we’ve had as an organisation to give back to our local community – which at Burges Salmon, isn’t just a corporate initiative, it’s fundamental to who we are as a responsible business. Community needs are constantly evolving, and we are committed to using our skills, resources, and influence to understand where we can make the greatest difference in supporting social, environmental, and economic resilience.”

Jamie Cameron, Director and Head of Community Engagement

This accolade caps off a highly successful five-year strategic period filled with community-centric highlights for the firm. The firm has delivered over 25,000 volunteering and pro bono hours, alongside raising more than £54,000 for our charitable themes. In the past year alone, the firm also achieved a 57% volunteering participation rate, engaged 2,822 students through its Bright Sparks programme, and supported regional initiatives like Business in the Community’s Pride of Place programme.
