About

Jamie joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2003, before joining our Employment team two years later.

Specialising in advising both public and private sector clients, Jamie utilises his experience across the full range of employment issues, including both day to day, operational advice and specific project and strategic advice. He has particular experience in advising clients in relation to high profile and sensitive employment disputes and claims; partnership disputes; executive appointment and exits; and business change, including restructures, reorganisations and outsourcing. He regularly delivers training programmes for HR and legal teams across the country.

Jamie is also the employment team’s expert in ESG related legal matters, feeding into the firm’s wider ESG understanding and strategy.

Alongside his legal work, he is Burges Salmon’s Head of Community Engagement, working on various aspects of its responsible business programme, with a particular focus on social mobility, diversity and wellbeing initiatives.

  • Leading property business: Advising on the full range of employment issues including managing large scale change projects and business restructures, and sensitive issues related to senior appointments and on the transfer of employees.
  • FTSE 100 organisation: Advising in-house labour law legal team and HR teams on a full range of employment matters including successfully defending sensitive employment tribunal claims, involving issues of national security and the right to privacy.
  • High profile regulatory body: Advising on the full range of employment issues, including change programmes, dealing with sensitive disciplinary issues and providing training to its manager population.
  • International bank: Advising on the full range of employment matters. Major projects include large-scale business restructures, advising on the people aspects of various transactions and providing Respect at Work training to senior management.
  • Global FMCG business: Advising on the full range of employment matters, including advising on high profile issues relating to the relocation of its headquarters and the closure of large factory and related age discrimination claims.
  • Multinational organisations: Advising a number of organisations on sensitive workplace investigations, including at C-suite level.
