05 June 2014

Welcome to Employment Edit, our regular update giving the pick of the key developments in employment law from the last couple of weeks:

  • Acas has published new guidance on handling TUPE transfers.
  • Acas has also published some guidance and advice to help employers prepare for potential workplace issues that could arise during the 2014 World Cup that takes place in Brazil between 12 June and 13 July.
  • The Flexible Working Regulations 2014 were laid before Parliament on 4 June 2014 and will come into force on 30 June 2014, extending the right to request flexible working to all employees with 26 weeks’ continuous service and replacing the current statutory procedure with new duty to deal with requests in a reasonable manner.
  • The Queen’s Speech yesterday contained a number of employment law reforms including measures to tackle zero-hours contracts and national minimum wage abuses and to reduce employment tribunal delays.
