Burges Salmon has advised global renewable energy company BayWa r.e. on its agreement to sell Dalquhandy wind farm to Greencoat UK Wind plc.

Burges Salmon originally advised BayWa r.e. on the purchase of the same wind farm, which is a testament to the long-standing relationships that the firm fosters with its clients.

Located near Coalburn in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, Dalquhandy is a 42MW wind farm comprising ten Vestas V136 4.2MW turbines and comes with a ten-year fixed price power purchase agreement (PPA) with BT for 80% of its output. Dalquhandy will produce enough green electricity to supply approximately 31,000 British households.

Completion of the acquisition is expected to take place in May 2023. It will be the sixth wind farm that Greencoat has acquired from BayWa r.e. after Cotton Farm and Earl's Hall Farm (2013); Kildrummy (2014); Stroupster (2015) and Bishopthorpe (2017).

The Burges Salmon team advising on the deal was led by associate Niall Mackle and partner Danny Lee, from the firm’s Corporate team.

Christine McGregor, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. UK, comments: “We are grateful to the Burges Salmon team for leading us seamlessly though this transaction and pleased to have completed the sale of Dalquhandy Wind Farm to Greencoat UK Wind, a partner who shares our commitment to renewable energy.”

Niall Mackle adds: “We are pleased to have advised BayWa r.e. on the sale of Dalquhandy Wind Fam and we are delighted to have worked with Christine, Sonja and Jenny on another successful transaction for the team."
