Burges Salmon’s Corporate Energy team has advised RDC Partners LLP on the sale of the rights to construct the Cumberhead Wind Farm, a 50MW onshore wind farm located in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, to Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc.

Completion of the sale is conditional upon achieving ready-to-build status, which is expected to occur in August 2021.

Construction will start shortly after completion with the wind farm expecting to be fully operational in Q4 2022. Cumberhead Wind Farm will consist of 12 turbines and have an initial expected operating life of 25 years.

The Burges Salmon team advising RDC Partners LLP on the transaction comprised partner Jonathan Eves, associate Bethan Penrhyn-Jones and solicitor Rebecca Brown from the firm’s Corporate team, along with partner Euan Bremner and associate Sarah Stewart from Real Estate.

Jonathan Eves says: “We’re delighted to have advised RDC Partners LLP on this transaction, which is the latest in a series of energy sector deals that the team has been involved in and further builds on our recent high ranking for clean energy project finance and M&A deals in the ‘Clean Energy Pipeline Legal League Tables 2021’.”

Gerry Jewson of RDC Partners LLP, says: “We are grateful to Jonny, Bethan and the entire team at Burges Salmon who helped us get to this significant point of the transaction.
