Burges Salmon real estate lawyer wins British Council for Offices rising star award

Drew Nesbitt, a senior associate in the firm's real estate team, has been named Rising Star of the South West at the British Council for Offices (BCO) NextGen Awards.

30 November 2016

The BCO’s inaugural NextGen Awards come as part of its NextGen programme, which mentors and encourages the next generation of professionals to become future leaders in the industry, whilst providing a platform for new talent to share their ideas. The awards dinner on 22 November, attended by country’s top designers, developers, architects and occupiers under the age of 35, celebrated the achievements and successes of young professionals in the commercial property sector, and their mentors. NextGen members also voted for the office environments and buildings that have inspired them.

Drew Nesbitt is a senior associate in the multi-award winning real estate development team at Burges Salmon, and has advised on some of the region's most significant office projects. These include Skanska's 60,000 sq ft flagship office development, 66 Queen Square, and furniture manufacturer Herman Miller’s new UK HQ and manufacturing facility in Wiltshire. Drew is also the current chair of BCO’s South West and Wales NextGen committee, and during his time on the committee has increased NextGen membership six fold.

Cristiano Testi, Chairman of the London and South East Next Gen Committee, commented: “Drew has made a huge impact on the BCO South West and Wales NextGen committee. He has worked tirelessly over the last three years to significantly increase membership and also organise an extensive events programme allowing his peers across the region to better connect and exchange ideas.”

Richard Kauntze, Chief Executive of the BCO, said: “As well as leading the BCO South West and Wales NextGen committee and advising on some of the region's most significant office deals, Drew provides valuable mentoring to graduates and trainees as they begin their careers in the real estate sector. He is very much a rising star and a deserving winner of the South West Rising Star award.”
