Burges Salmon has been shortlisted for ‘Pension Lawyers of the Year’ award at the 25th anniversary UK Pensions Awards 2022.

The UK Pensions Awards remain the industry's most prestigious accolades. They shine a light on excellence and recognise the advisers, providers and investment managers that offer the highest level of innovation, performance and service to occupational pension schemes and their members.

The awards look at advisers and providers across 40 different categories and are rigorously judged by a panel of senior scheme managers, trustees and advisers.

Burges Salmon has one of the largest Pensions teams in the UK with a practice advising approximately 10 per cent of the UK’s trust-based occupational pension schemes. The firm’s established position allows it to provide specialist advice on the most complex of legal issues and the team advises both pension scheme trustees and sponsoring employers.

The firm’s clients – some of whom it has been working with for more than 30 years – span the private and public sectors, large commercial master trusts, not-for-profit organisations as well as religious and educational bodies. Burges Salmon’s Pensions practice has continued to build upon its trusted status internationally, providing specialist UK legal advice to international clients and coordinating advice across multiple jurisdictions.

Throughout 2021, the firm’s Pensions team supported clients through various COVID-19 challenges and remained at the forefront of key issues facing the industry. The team also guided clients through new regulations ushered in by the Pension Schemes Act 2021, producing informative content to provide clarity on the recent changes.

Burges Salmon partner Richard Knight, who heads the firm’s Pensions practice, says: “I am delighted that the team has been recognised for its commitment and expertise and for continuing to work with real diligence and dedication over the past year. Throughout the year, we have provided our clients with expert and innovative pensions legal advice and high levels of service that we have built a strong reputation for delivering.”

The winners will be announced at an in-person gala dinner at The Hilton Park Lane in London on Thursday 30 June 2022.
