As a senior associate within the corporate team, Gregory advises clients in the public and private sectors on a wide range of corporate law and corporate finance issues. He acts for both buyers and sellers on private company mergers and acquisitions, as well as on joint venture arrangements and corporate reorganisations. 

Gregory has a particular expertise in advising on public sector corporate governance and corporate structuring and reorganisations. His private sector experience has focused on the energy sector, in particular renewable energy where he has acted for a broad range of developers and investors in the wind, solar and energy from waste industries. Gregory has provided training on corporate law issues such as directors' duties to a range of clients.

  • Acted for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy on the high value and complex transfer of assets from the UK's seven research councils, Innovate UK and the higher education research functions of HEFCE to the new UK Research and Innovation body. This was undertaken using a statutory transfer scheme pursuant to the Higher Education and Research Act 2017.
  • Advised the Department for Education on the corporate aspects of the transfer of children's social care functions from Doncaster MBC to a separate Trust established by the DfE/Doncaster.
  • Advised Innovate UK on the corporate aspects of their loans project. This includes advising on the constitutional and governance framework for the new corporate entity and other general corporate advice. 
  • Advised the Department for Energy and Climate Change on corporate law issues on the incorporation of the Oil and Gas Authority. 
  • Advised the Department for Transport on corporate law issues around the formation of a new Strategic Highways Company, Highways England.
  • Advised The Housing Ombudsman in relation to the provisions of the Housing Ombudsman Scheme and the drafting of the Framework Agreement between The Housing Ombudsman and the Department for Communities and Local Government. 
  • Advised a number of renewable energy investors including Belltown Power, Good Energy, TerraForm Power and BayWa r.e in respect of acquisitions of renewable energy projects (solar PV and wind) in the UK. 
  • Advised Welsh Water Infrastructure on the acquisition of a food waste anaerobic digestion and composting plant in Cardiff. 
  • Advised International Process Technologies Limited on the sale of United Moulders Limited to Drew Marine, and of Plascoat Systems Limited to Axalta Coating Systems.
  • Provided training around a range of subjects, including for local authorities (Sunderland CC, Doncaster MBC, Birmingham City Council, Reading Borough Council and South Gloucestershire Council) and other public sector bodies including Innovate UK.
