Overview

Guy is a senior associate in the private client team and specialises in tax, estate planning and trust work.

Guy has a particular focus on advising entrepreneurs and owners of family businesses throughout the business lifecycle, in particular on succession and governance matters as well as exit planning and tax structuring.

More generally, his work covers complex capital gains tax and inheritance tax issues, and wealth and asset structuring for a broad range of clients, including trustees, landed estates and families.

Guy is the co-host of 'Death and Taxes', the private client podcast from Burges Salmon.

He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

  • Advising trustees of a discretionary trust on the use of alternative structures to hold “family assets” (including a family limited partnership).
  • Advising a UK entrepreneur on the incorporation of a family holding company for a trading group and related succession planning and family governance issues.
  • Advising a UK individual on the restructuring of his investment management business (including the use of a family investment company).
