Overview

James trained at the firm, and qualified into the employment team as a solicitor in September 2023. He advises both employers and employees on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment and HR matters.

James has worked on claims in the Employment Tribunal relating to unfair and wrongful dismissal, all types of discrimination, whistleblowing, victimisation and unlawful deductions from wages.

James also has experience of advising on a wide range of every day employment matters, including grievance and disciplinary procedures, redundancy processes, responding to data subject access request and termination. He also regularly drafts contracts of employment and service agreements, reviews and advises on HR policies and handbooks and provides support on corporate transactions.

James is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

  • Defending a major national retailer against a range of complex employment tribunal litigation, including claims for unfair and wrongful dismissal and discrimination.
  • Drafting contracts of employment, service agreements, HR policies and handbooks for a wide range of businesses.
  • Advising several employers on the drafting and negotiation of settlement agreements for exiting employees.
  • Advising a client within the financial services sector on the employment law implications of introducing a four-day working week and drafting the necessary contractual documentation.
  • Advising clients in the care, energy and hospitality sectors on the employment aspects of corporate transactions.
